ETS has organized a seminar titled "Sleep Medicine: State of the Science and Its Practice" on July 14, 2024, at the Golden Royal Hotel in Addis Ababa. The event, held in collaboration with Bethesda American Medical Plaza (under establishment) and Premier Sleep Disorders Center (USA). Dr. Asefa Jejaw Mekonnen, M.D., FCCP, FAASM, Principal Investigator at Velocity Clinical Research and Director of Premier Sleep Disorders Center, delivered a comprehensive seminar covering topics including the normal physiology of sleep, the history of sleep medicine, and the evaluation and management of common sleep disorders, with a particular focus on sleep disorders related to breathing and hypersomnia. He also addressed sleep apnea as a cardiovascular disease, discussing preventive and management strategies, and shared insights on current research in sleep medicine therapeutics.
