ETS has provided a comprehensive training on lung cancer screening, diagnosis and management for project site physicians
ETS conducted a comprehensive three-day lung cancer training for physicians from project site health facilities across Addis Ababa, Oromiya, Afar, and Amhara regions. A total of 19 trainees participated in the training held from May 15 to May 17 at Monarch Parkview Hotel in Addis Ababa. The training was provided in a CPD format with an accredited course module, ensuring high standards and professional recognition. The course syllabus covered a wide range of topics, including an overview of the National Cancer Control Plan, project specifics, lung cancer epidemiology, risk factors, screening methods, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management, and palliative care for lung cancer patients. To enhance understanding, both hypothetical and real case scenarios were presented throughout the sessions, providing practical insights into screening and patient management. To evaluate the training's effectiveness, participants completed pre-tests and post-tests. Upon successful completion, all trainees were awarded certificates. These trained physicians are now expected to cascade the training in their respective sites and improving lung cancer screening and diagnosis across the participating regions. Additionally, ETS has arranged follow-up support, providing trainees with access to ongoing guidance from mentors. This support aims to address any questions or challenges encountered during the implementation phase, ensuring the effective application of the training.
